Dr. Emery Huber, Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma Specialist is using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to instantly detect risks factors in causes of blindness, eye disease, and vision impairment during an eye exam. The significance of this has big implications. Here’s why.
According to the World Health Organization, an estimated 253 million people live with vision impairment, globally. Over 80% of all vision impairment can be prevented or treated if diagnosed and treated early. Uncorrected refractive errors and un-operated cataracts are the top two causes of vision impairment. Un-operated cataracts remain the leading cause of blindness in low and middle-income countries. Approximately 80 million people have Glaucoma and it’s the second leading cause of blindness in the world.
